StatBroadcast to provide StatMonitr at Old Spice Classic, Armed Forces Classic for ESPN Regional Television
TEMPE, ARIZ. -- StatBroadcast announced today that it has reached agreement with ESPN Regional Television and BreakAway Sports Marketing to use the StatMonitr media stats system and stat monitors at two of ESPN Regional's preseason college basketball events, the 2012 Old Spice Classic and the 2012 inaugural Armed Forces Classic.
The Old Spice Classic is an annual men's preseason college basketball tournament that is held over Thanksgiving weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Hosted by the MAAC, the Old Spice Classic features eight teams from different conferences across the nation in a round-robin format, with each team playing three games. This year's field includes current StatBroadcast partners Vanderbilt, Clemson and Gonzaga who will be joined by West Virginia, Marist, Davidson, UTEP and Oklahoma.
The Armed Forces Classic is a new preseason men's basketball series created by ESPN Regional and this year will be the inagural event. The Michigan State Spartans will face the Connecticut Huskies on November 9 at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The court will be constructed in the hangar of a C-5 transport airplane and will tip off a 6 pm EST, midnight local time in Germany. This will mark the first-ever regular-seaosn NCAA basketball game to be played in Europe. Last year, the Spartans participated in the ESPN's Carrier Classic, which was played on the desk of the USS Carl Vinson stationed in San Diego.
ESPN Regional Television, also popularly known as ESPN Plus, is a television sports marketing, syndication, event management and production company, and a subsidiary of ESPN, Inc. The company currently prodcues more than 1000 live events annually, including StatBroadcast partner events the Puerto Rico Tip Off, the Armed Forces Bowl and the Anaheim Classic.
